I arrived in DC with my mom. We thought we would have difficulty getting into the city, but it was not an issue. We took a wrong turn and ended up right in front of the capital. We went by The Mall, the Washington Monument, and down Pennsylvania Avenue with no issues what so ever. Things seemed to go great, we got right in, and then we didn’t know exactly where we were so we asked a CAB driver for directions. He just said “follow me” and took us to where we needed to go and then we walked into a restaurant that made us free hot chocolate. Things were off to a great start!
Freezing
It is freezing! You can not see people’s faces because they are bundled in layers and layers of clothes. The temperature on Pennsylvania Avenue read 18*. The heat didn’t work in the apartment we were supposed to stay in so I am spending an extra night at my cousin Kathleen’s where I will be for the duration of the trip. If you’re coming to DC remember the layers, it is freezing and not supposed to warm up. Snow is even in the forecast!
Hello? Anybody?
Millions might be coming but they are not here yet. We were on Capitol Hill tonight and there was not a person on the street. Many of the people, who live here, are staying inside due to the cold. I think the crowds have yet to arrive because the streets were pretty quite. Tomorrow, I am sure will be a different story.
Set Up DC is getting ready for a party! The barricades are up, the chairs are in place and the flags are hanging in their respective places. Everyone is expecting the crowds to arrive and for the ceremony to begin. Let’s just hope the temperature rises!
